Yard and site grading
Reshaping ground so water leaves. We shoot grade with laser and GPS equipment rather than working off appearances, because the differences that matter here are small.
Grading and dirt work
Calcasieu Parish
Carlyss runs along LA 27 south of Sulphur, with I-10 across the top of it and Lake Charles about ten miles east. A good share of what we are asked to do here comes down to moving water.
Carlyss is a census-designated place rather than an incorporated town — about 5,100 residents, no city hall of its own, and a mix of subdivision lots and larger parcels along the highway and the roads running off it.
The call we get most often here starts the same way: water stands somewhere it should not. In the side yard, along the back fence, at the bottom of the drive. Sometimes that is a grading problem we can solve with a machine and a laser. Sometimes it is a bigger question about where the water is supposed to go once it leaves your property, and no amount of dirt on your side of the line fixes it.
We would rather tell you which one you have before you spend money.
General information about drainage site work — not a specific customer project
Before anybody quotes you a number, these are the things that need looking at. If a contractor skips straight to a price without them, be careful.

Grading and dirt workSizing and setting a crossing so the ditch keeps working. A culvert that is too small or set too high causes more problems than no culvert at all.
Culvert workBuilt up in compacted lifts and set high enough that the structure sheds water on all four sides. Getting this right at the start is far cheaper than fighting it later.
House pad constructionNew drives, widened drives and drives that have failed because the base under them was never right.
Driveway constructionUnderbrush, overgrown back sections, storm debris and old material that needs to leave before anything else can happen.
Clearing servicesFive steps, and we will tell you which one you are in at any point.
Describe the problem. Photos after a hard rain are genuinely useful — that is when the evidence is visible.
We come out and shoot the grade so the diagnosis is based on measurements.
You get told what will fix it, what it costs, and what is excluded.
Booked against real conditions. Wet ground moves dirt schedules and we will be straight about that.
We go over the completed work with you before calling it done.
